Why Mearra?

22. January 2010 - Vesa Palmu

Mearra got started after some serious frustrations on finding competent Drupal professionals for projects. Some Drupal projects have been getting very big and many large enterprise clients have been asking for more and more complex large solutions. Large complex sites require not only several months to implement, but also many really competent experienced Drupal designers in all phases of a project. It's not uncommon to have a team of 6-10 people working on a large Drupal project for 6 months. We found out that it was often difficult to get enough experienced people on a project when few good Drupal resources were spread around in many different companies. To fix the problem we decided to get enough people in one company and established Mearra. We are just starting as one company and Mearra will still continue to recruit and train more top notch Drupal talent. Mearra really focuses on sharing knowledge about Drupal both internally and with larger Drupal community. We want to make sure our people are among the very best and will continue working hard on this. You can expect to start seeing more and more contributions from Mearra people in the near future. At Mearra we all have backgrounds in working with number of different technologies on daily basis. Ecosystems of major web platforms have grown so large that it requires huge amounts of work just to keep on top of whats happening not even mentioning participating in their development. In this in mind we it really helps when every developer is just concentrating on one technology platform. Now instead of just being very good in building web sites and software we can really concentrate in being extremely good at building Drupal solutions. We readily admit that Drupal is not always the right tool for every project and will only concentrate on working those projects that Drupal is well suited for. We want to have enough developers internally to take on even very large projects and because limitations of our scope we are looking to grow more internationally. Most Mearra activities are currently located in Finland, but with more and more international clients will be moving European markets.
